Fudge bars with oatmeal.
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 ½ cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 cups oatmeal
- 12 oz chocolate chips
- 1 can condensed milk
- 2 tbsp butter (for filling)

- Cream together 1 cup butter and 2 cups brown sugar.
- Add 2 eggs and 1 tsp vanilla; blend well.
- In a separate bowl, blend together 2.5 cups flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp salt, and 3 cups oatmeal.
- Divide the dough into two parts: 2/3 and 1/3.
- Press the 2/3 portion into the bottom of a greased cookie sheet.
- Roll the 1/3 portion into 24 small balls.
- For the filling, blend together 12 oz chocolate chips, 1 can condensed milk, and 2 tbsp butter. Melt carefully over a double boiler.
- Spread the filling over the oatmeal base.
- Place the dough balls evenly over the top of the chocolate filling.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes.
- Cut into squares while still slightly warm.
